Facebook Under Phishing Attack

Be very much careful while dealing with emails that are meant to steal your passwords and crash your computer. A new phishing scam has been targeted to Facebook users, IF you are not aware of them till now its high time that you know about it. Do not open files ending with “.at” or “.be”, The scam is send through spam messages which steals your personal in formations and that targets Facebook users the most. Most of the emails are circulated with subject “Hello” with a prompt to check “areps.at” or some other URL ending with “.at”. The links are goldbase.be, greenbuddy.be, silvertag.be, picoband.be etc.. on clicking they would lead you to malicious Websites which if visited, could secretly download the malware programs onto your computer through a drive- by download application.
The URL would connect it to a fake facebook page and the mail ID and password are stolen soon. The facebook bog advises that in such cases the password should be changed immediately and the same message should be sent to all your friends.
“Whoever is behind the scam has been steadily amassing a large number of e-mail addresses and passwords over the past few weeks,” the bog says. The effect of the phishing is not widely spread it. Facebook has taken steps to block those sites with major browsers and they are taking measures to shut down those Websites.
